XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/17

You know what they say… It ain’t over until it’s over.

That’s why, despite Old Man Winter being a real softy this year, we are staying open every day through the end of March with normal hours.* The trails are open for mountain bike riding and mud tromping and the shop is open with big sales and lots of helpful staff members waiting to help you shop. And don’t forget the Stone Turtle Cafe, which is still cranking out panini’s and chocolate chip cookies like it’s mid-January.

You know what else they say…
If you can’t beat ’em, have a really cool event that involves mud and paintball.

Enter: the first ever…
MUDDY FOREST BIATHLON RUN!

Oh yeah. You heard us. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 26th, when the Blizzard trail and XC Ski HQ parking lot will be transformed into a mud-tastic obstacle course. We’re talking good old fashioned lumberjack-style events like firewood hauling and spool rolling, plus various other woodsy, up northy challenges. Oh, and a small, totally-not-fun thing called paintball target shooting will also be involved. The only thing we won’t make you do is ride a wild deer (although, bonus points if you do.) The course opens at 11:00am and is open to individuals and teams of all ability levels.

Now that you’re shaking with excitement, we will shamelessly plug our massive March Madness Sale, which basically is the Labor Day Weekend Sale Cometh Early. When? Every live-long day from now through the end of March. Most XC ski/running/cycling jackets are 30-40% off, including this year’s styles from Louis Garneau, North Face, Sporthill and more. And that’s just the tip of the sale ice berg. Remember, the weather is always perfect, as long as you’re doing the right thing. Like shopping.
So, March in a nutshell:

We’re open, come shop the Sale, and get your mud flaps ready for the Muddy Forest Biathlon Run on March 26th!

All the best,

Bob, Lynne, Mariah, Stu, Fran, Erin, Matt, Ryan, Carl, Henry, Dana, Brian, Matt B., Gage, Grant, Lexi, Shania, Michelle, Donnie, and the rest of the crew!

*Except on Easter Sunday, when we will be open from Noon to 3:00pm. Coffee and donuts on us.

**[In lieu of the Muddy Forest Biathlon Run, we will not be holding the Paintball Biathlon this weekend, March 19th. Because, spring.]
