Congrats to Eric on completing this circumnavigation of Beaver Island over the Labor day weekend along the newly dedicated "Beaver Island Water Trail!"

Michigami crossing
If you want to experience what paddling around Beaver Island's beautiful new "Water Trail" is like (on a day that was incapable of offering good conditions) check out this ~8min story of what the 12.5hrs spent on the water was like!

Paddle Muskegon "professor of paddle" at it again with the goal of Paddleboarding around the 43 mile circumference of Beaver Island this time to promote the Beaver Island water trail - dedication! Let's get one of these water trails around Muskegon!

Visit Muskegon, Pure Michigan, Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership, Downtown MuskegonLooking back to August 8 it’s hard to believe that day that we paddled 73 miles is already over 3 weeks past! Adventures like this get you so “in the zone” and in touch with all of the small details that it takes to achieve such a large goal that there was almost an “adventure hangover” after it was all said and done and we were back to our daily routines.

As I (Eric Strickler) was looking through some of these photos I had some powerful emotions come welling up when remembering being out in the middle of great Lake Michigami with water on all sides of us. I also could reach back and feel the love and support from the crew over the duration of our paddle, especially from Chief Stoke officer and awesome human, Daniel Bonner.

Soooo…..I decided that since I was going up to Beaver Island to teach kayaking for the Beaver Island water trail - dedication that I may as well try to paddle the 43 mile water trail as well! I have to admit that my incessant need for another adventure immediately felt satiated and I am super excited about it since I have never been to Beaver Island before and I love exploring new places and adventuring at the same time!

The Water Trails around our great state are a great resource to Michiganders, providing opportunities for low impact and wilderness style camping using human powered vessels. I feel honored to be part of the dedication of the Beaver Island water trail and will post updates as able.

Right now it’s looking like the weather will allow me to circumnavigate the Island on Sunday, Sep 2. I am hoping to get’r’done in under 15 hours. Should have the satellite tracker going as well so stay posted for a link to that!
