Good morning! Groomer Mike has snow combed the Trapper’s Cabin trail, which is fully covered with man-made snow and in excellent condition. It will be awesome out there all day with these nice, sub-32 degree temps all day long! The Stone Turtle Cafe is open for lunch and drinks. Join us this weekend for tons of fun: Ribs and Blues is tomorrow, along with a self-timed Strava Flash Race for a good cause. And the Junior Muffin Race on Sunday, welcoming all children ages 19 and under. See event details below for more information. Based on the weather forecast, this weekend may be the last hurrah (at least until the inevitable March blizzard comes), so make sure to come out and enjoy SNOW while it’s still here!

Saturday, February 24th – Ribs & Blues, Free Beginner Lesson, Flash Race for a Cause!
A favorite XC Ski HQ tradition, Ribs & Blues features an afternoon of fantastic live music from Rhett’s Eastside Blues Band, as well as German Dave’s famous BBQ ribs. It’s a perfect day to hit the trails, then kick back by the fire and enjoy great music and outstanding ribs, scalloped potatoes, and coleslaw. There is also a self-timed Strava Flash Race to support Michigan World Cup XC Ski Athletes that runs throughout the day, and a free beginner ski lesson at 10:30am. Sunday, February 25th – 31st Annual Junior Muffin Race!
Join us for the longest standing juniors race in Michigan! The Muffin Race celebrates the fun of youth skiing with a Junior Girls and Boys 5km Team Sprint Relay Race. This 13+ freestyle relay race will feature two skiers per relay team. Registration begins at 9:30am on Sunday, with a 10:30am start. After the Muffin Team Sprint Relay Race, we will hold three Mini Muffin freestyle races: Ages 6 years old and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. All racers 12 and under will be awarded a medal. There is no entry fee for the Mini Muffin racers. All racers receive a post-race lunch, which costs $5 for anyone else who might be hungry too. Saturday, March 2nd – 10:30am: Free Ski Lesson
Learn how to cross country ski at our FREE beginner ski lesson! You will learn the basics of traditional (classic style) XC ski technique, plus hill climbing, descending, and turning. You will even learn how to get up when you fall down!

Sunday, March 2nd: Trail Sponsor Appreciation Day
Season Trail Sponsors are invited to enjoy a bowl of chili on the house today. Thank you for your support for the XC Ski HQ trail system!
