XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 11/24

Dang it Feels Good to be a Skier + Thanksgiving Weekend Sale!

After two more inches of snow yesterday, we are delighted to say that we are skiing before Thanksgiving this year. And, even though the snow is thin, it reminds us that… Dang, it feels good to be a skier.

Check out Lorien from Mount Pleasant, who came up to demo a set of Rossignol Evo Actions, one of the best recreational touring ski packages of all time. Even though the odds were against her with some bits of grass sticking up from low-coverage snow, she was so happy after gliding around on the practice area, that she bought them.

Now, could it be that she was merely intoxicated with the sheer joy of taking that first stride of the season? Could we have put her out there on a pair of two-by-fours and expected the same excitement? We may never know, but it’s a mystery we’re willing to accept and marvel at. (And no, we don’t actually recommend skiing on two-by-fours, you silly turkey.)
Did somebody say Turkey?

We are so excited to see you at our Thanksgiving Weekend Sale, we can barely contain ourselves. The Sale lasts Friday though Monday, and we’re throwing you a huge party at the shop, with Bob’s Famous Bacon-Garlic-Jalepeno-Masterpiece Bean Bomb being served the whole time. We recommend fasting to prepare you system, so try not to eat anything this Thursday, okay? (KIDDING, MOM.)
Speaking of animals, do you like sheep?

You should, because that’s what Smartwool uses to make the most amazing socks on the planet. We are so passionate about these socks that we’re making it really easy for you to get some. In fact, all Thanksgiving week and weekend, we’re going to give you a FREE pair of Smartwool socks with the purchase of any of this year’s sweaters. AND, if you shop with us this weekend on Small Business Saturday, it’s buy-two-get-one-free Smartwool socks for everyone. And with all that Smartwool in your shopping bag, you just might feel like a pretty Smartperson.

Top it all of with an in-store fashion show, brought to you by the glamorous crew here at XCHQ. Seeing Stu’s Blue Steel face? Now that should tip the scales for you.
So wait, back to the skiing.

We currently have just enough snow to demo, so come quick if you want to take advantage of it. Like, as in today and maybe a little tomorrow, as it’s going to warm up for Thanksgiving. You are welcome to use rock skis, but we ask that you wear bright yellow (we have very stylish fluorescent highway-clean-up vests for you to borrow) and stick to the Blizzard or Rolling Hills trails.

See you this weekend, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

-Bob, Lynne, Mariah, Stu, Fran, Erin, Matt, Kevin, and the crew
