Porcupine Mountains Snow Report – 12/24

Snow, Snow, Snow….. is falling daily as Mother Nature and Old Man Winter have teamed up to give us plentiful powder for the holiday season! It doesn’t get any better than this!

DOWNHILL SKIING
The ski area will be open everyday for the holiday week starting Dec 26th thru January 4th. All runs will be open with a 24” base. The chalet features hot food, rentals and retail shop. Stop in for a cup of hot cocoa and watch the skiers coming down the hill toward you as you watch through large windows in the A-frame!

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Ranger Rick reports very good early season snow conditions on the trails with some wet areas. The Big Hemlock trail is closed. The remainder of the trails is open and 60% track set. The Porkies cross country ski trails are groomed by the Michigan DNR and donations are accepted by the park to maintain this program.

FREE LANTERN LIGHT SKIING ON THE SUPERIOR LOOP
DEC 26 & 30 FROM 6PM – 9PM ET

SNOWSHOEING
The park is primed for snowshoeing as the snow has settled making for great conditions. Watch for wildlife in the deer yard and stop in the chalet for a warm up! Use of the cross country ski trails for snowshoeing is permitted, just stay in the middle and do not disturb the set tracks. Donations are accepted by the park for trail grooming.
