XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/23

We’re ready for you, Old Man Winter!

Old Man Winter just called. He says to get your skis ready, gas up your car, and bring a warm hat.
SNOW is coming, and it’s coming with a force.

Here is the forecast for Higgins Lake for the next 3 days:

Today/Tonight: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around this morning. High around 50F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.

Wednesday/night: Cloudy with snow showers early and steady snow likely later in the day. High 36F. Winds ENE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 3 to 5 inches of snow expected during the day, and 5 to 8 inches of snow expected overnight.

Thursday: Cloudy with snow. High near 30F. Winds ENE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 3 to 5 inches of snow expected. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
In a nutshell, we’re on track to get 11 to 18 inches of snow before the weekend. Boom. Plan?

The plan is that we are currently clearing the trails with a fine toothed rake (and chainsaw where need be) so that when the snow hits, we can start packing and grooming with best possible results.

Plan on heading north this weekend for this incredible opportunity to ski on real snow in the end of March! We’ll have great food in the Stone Turtle Day Lodge Cafe, and equally great sales throughout the store.

*There will be no Muddy Biathlon event this weekend, since what will hopefully be great skiing conditions is enough fun in itself.

See you this weekend!

– Lynne, Bob, Mariah, Stu, Fran, Brian, Erin, Matt V., Ryan, Lexi, Gage, Matt B., Grant, Shania, Kevin, Henry, Dana and the crew
