XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/26

Trails groomed up beautifully yesterday! Last evening groomer Stu snow combed all the skating lanes on all the trails except the Blizzard and Adventure trails which have water hazards on them! He reports that the Tall Pines trail has some wet spots, but is passable and that the skating lanes on the Rolling Hills, Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey, Trappers Cabin and Manitou trails are in great condition. He also reports that the classic skiing tracks on all those trails are still in great shape except in a few areas where the sun has burned them up. In those spots however it is easy to get out of the tracks and classic ski in the skating lane. As of 7am this morning the temperature was 25 degrees so the snow pack will be nice and firm for this morning’s skiing.
Forecast:
Today: Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 49F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Some clouds. Low 31F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Cloudy in the morning, then off and on rain showers during the afternoon hours. High 51F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Sunday night: Occasional rain tapering to a few showers late. Low 33F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
Today’s lunch special is: Get your Fill at the Grill – Fire on the Mountain! Your choice of salmon burger, lean beef burger or black bean veggie burger will be grilled to perfection by by Chef Erin! If you dare, ask that your entree be served “fire on the mountain style” – grilled with sizzling hot sauce and topped with jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, onion and creamy buffalo blue cheese dressing! Classic chili and tuna or veggie paninis will also be available. It should be a nice day for lunch on the sun deck!
