XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 04/12

The snow is waiting for you!

Greetings from Higgins Lake! We are happy to report yet again that the trails remain in remarkable condition for both classic and skating. Temperatures never rose above mid 30s F yesterday, and so the snow continues to to be easy to groom, giving us smooth corduroy skate lanes, while the classic tracks are firm and in good shape. As of 6:45 this morning it was 30 F, and we had received a light dusting of new snow overnight. Groomer Stu will ginzu-snowcomb the skate lanes this morning on the 5km Highlands Trail (all of Rolling Hills and Mackinaw Cut trails, plus parts of Trappers Cabin, Wild Turkey, and Tall Pines). Bring your “A” skis – the only imperfections are handful of small icy spots on Tall Pines.

Forecast:

Today: Snow showers this morning. Peeks of sunshine later. High 37F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 40%.

Tonight: Clear early followed by cloudy skies overnight. Low around 25F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Overcast. High 46F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Back by popular demand, today’s Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special is the Barbeque Chicken Wrap! Special Hawaiian BBQ sauce drizzled over sliced oven roasted chicken breast, with swiss cheese, bell peppers, onions, banana peppers, and spinach, grilled and served hot in a giant tortilla wrap. Served with chips and a pickle. It’s a real treat!
The End of Season Sale is still in full swing!

As long as there is groomable snow, we are open 10am to 5pm every day. Time to ski!

-Lynne, Bob, Mariah, Stu, Fran, Brian, Erin, Matt V, Ryan, Lexi, Gage, Matt B, Grant, Shania, Kevin, Henry, Dana and the crew
