Valley Spur Trail System Cross Country Ski Report – 03/17

Tuesday the 17th of March. The UP has been hit by a Historic Snow Storm and snow is still coming down. Very high winds (62 mile an hour) that have taken out more trees then we can count. Power is out, roads are closed and we have no idea when our kids will be back to school.

The Valley Spur Committee has made a tough and the right decision to end grooming for the season. The work and financial cost it would take does not warrant our reopening. We are all sad that our ski season is being cut short. The forecast for Thursday is calling for a rain/snow mix.

We have had a great season for our Passholders and Visitors and are very thankful. We can’t say enough good about our Groomer John Cromell. John you are so appreciated, along with the many volunteers it takes to run Valley Spur. VS is a great community to be apart of.

I don’t have a total snowfall total but at least 30". I have attached a pictures of my home in down town Munising. This is after it was snowplown the day before. Locals please attach pictures so others can understand. We can’t get to the Valley at this time. Stay safe and we hope you come back and ski with us next year. Peggy

Ski Michigan

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Sunday the 15th of March and The Weather Sevice has predicted a Historic Snow Storm with high winds for the next couple of days. There will be no grooming until this storm is over. Once the storm is over we will assess the damages from falling trees to see if it warrants the time and effort it will need to accomplish opening trails. Please be safe and not go into the woods during these high winds. The lodge will be closed until further notice. Stay tuned to this Facebook page for further updates. #valleyspur #SkiMichigan ...
