Valley Spur Trail System Cross Country Ski Report – 02/21

Another fine day for skiing today. Classic tracks are a few days old but are holding up well. They are firm and fast. Skate lanes are in nice shape as well. Would like to mention a couple things about safety on the trails. Our trails are one way for the most part with a short section on B and X being the only exceptions. With that said just remember if the classic tracks are on your right you are going in the right direction. This is a most important note as we see a fair amount of folks skiing up a downhill which can be quite dangerous for both skiers.

Lastly please take notice of the difficulty signage at all junctions to assure you are skiing a section that fits your skill level. Falling on hills is not only a risk for the person falling but also for the skiers that come later and have to try to navigate the damage done to the trail. Thanks and stay safe and have fun. In that order.

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Saturday the 28th and no need to groom. A smidge of snow has fallen at best. Since posting snow is falling pretty good, which will make tracks and skate lanes good. Temps are in the teens. The lodge will be open. #valleyspur #SkiMichiganSaturday the 28th and no need to groom. A smidge of snow has fallen at best. FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Friday the 27th of February Cromel groomed all trails. Carlson did extra groom on AB and W in hopes it would improve those skate lanes. Shortly after grooming was complete snow began. Get out early for the best conditions before this afternoon's warm up. The lodge is open. #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichiganFriday the 27th of February Cromel groomed all trails. Curious how Mr. Carlsons grooming worked out. Any reports from skate skiers?

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Monday the 23rd of February and the snow didn't start falling until now so there will be no new grooming until very early tomorrow morning. The snow coming down is very fluffy and will create good glide. We will have the lodge open. #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan ... See MoreSee Less

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Sunday the 22nd of February and John Cromell has another challenging groom. The ice on the trees collected more snow and they are very low hanging branches. 6 to 10 inches of new snow and the poor old Jeep is having tough time and is over heating. John plans to groom all trails today. Check out his picture of what he is facing. Update check out the after pics. Beautiful groom. #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan ...
