XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/23

We received about 2 inches of heavy, dense snow this morning, which has done a lot of good! The John Deere Loop is open for classic skiing only today. We will not be grooming today so that we can give the snow time to set up. Luckily it will be getting quite cold tonight, so we should have good results from grooming tomorrow. We will also commence making snow today and tonight, and continue the snow spreading project tomorrow morning. We should be in pretty good shape by the weekend! The practice area is open for skate and classic, and is still in great shape for ski demos and lessons.

Forecast:

Today: Occasional snow showers. High 24F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Tonight: Cloudy. Low around 10F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow: More clouds than sun. High 23F. Winds light and variable.

Shop the Sale! All XC Ski jackets and layering tops from Swix, Salomon, Columbia, Bjorn Daehlie and more are 10-25% off. Cross Country Ski Packages

Today’s Stone Turtle Cafe Lunch Special is the Pesto Perfection Panini! Oven roasted turkey breast, provolone cheese, spinach, tomatoes, and basil pesto grilled to perfection on Stone House 7-Grain Bread. Served with Great Lakes Chips and a pickle, of course! We also have house favorites like classic and veggie chili.

The snow we got, even though it’s only 2 inches, is of very high quality and appears to be quite durable! We are looking forward to some good skiing tomorrow.
