XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/03

We received another heavy dusting of snow last night, and are happy to report excellent conditions for skating and classic skiing on the John Deere loop this weekend. The skating lanes will be snow combed this morning, and deep, firm classic tracks were set yesterday. We also packed all the other trails yesterday, and after letting it set up overnight, Groomer Mike will snow comb all trails except Tall Pines this morning. We expect good to very good conditions for skating on these trails, which include Rolling Hills, Mackinaw Cut, Wild Turkey, Trappers Cabin, and Manitou. We do not have enough snow yet on top of the icy base to set new tracks on these trails, but hopefully by the end of the snowfall we get today and tomorrow we will be able to. The practice area will be snow combed as well, and is open for lessons and demos.
