Shanty Creek Snow Report – 02/04

4″ of new snow fell yesterday, freshening up our slopes to a beautiful packed powder groom! Today’s weather forecast calls for snow mainly in the morning with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Highs will be near 12 degrees. Conditions on the slopes are SUPER!

There are a lot of SUPER things on tap for today at Shanty Creek!

– Nordic Racers: Compete to become the King of the Hill at Schuss Mountain today! King of the Hill is an uphill/downhill race where participants may choose any non-motorized, non-wheeled winter gear to travel both uphill and downhill sections of the course. Snowshoes, alpine, xc, telemark or randonee skis and bindings, snowboards, climbing skins are all permitted. Registration begins at 8a at Ivan’s. Race begins at 10a.

– Super Sunday: Shanty Creek supports the National Ski Area Association’s efforts to Grow the Sport. Our Super Sundays program is open to all ages to learn to ski or ride. Get a lift ticket, rental equipment, and a lesson for only $29!

– Football Fans: After you hit the slopes, tune into the big game at Shanty Creek. The Lakeview Restaurant at Summit Village and the River Bistro at Cedar River Village will both have great game day specials during the game tonight!

SCHUSS MOUNTAIN UPDATE:
Schuss Mountain will be open from 9a-4:30p today with the magic carpet, pink, purple, yellow and red chairs available servicing 41 runs.

TERRAIN PARK UPDATE:
At Schuss Mountain, the Monster Terrain Park has 17 features available. The Low Rider beginner terrain park located near the Schuss Day Lodge is also available with 5 features available.

NORDIC TRAIL UPDATE:
Trails are in excellent condition after receiving over a foot of new snow in the past three days. We will be grooming everything today, come and hit the trails!
