XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/24

The temps stayed cold yesterday and last night. Tractor Mike spent the day yesterday tilling up the ice with the pre-seeder, adding snow where needed, and finally grooming the John Deere Loop. Conditions will be good for skating today. Classic skiing should be fair to good, but we were unable to set classic tracks due to the crustiness of the snow. Plan on 2.5km of full coverage of a mixture of snow, crusty snow, and one or two slightly slick spots on the trail today.

Forecast:

Today: loudy early with peeks of sunshine expected late. High 42F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: A mix of light rain and freezing rain early…changing to all rain overnight. Low 28F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precip 90%.

Tomorrow: Windy. Cloudy skies will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 38F. Winds WSW at 20 to 30 mph.
