XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/25
We received a bit of rain over the course of the night, plus some heavy winds. Groomer Mike will be clearing, tilling and grooming this morning to prepare for the annual Junior Muffin Race, which starts at 10:30am. We are asking that all skiers except Muffin Racers stay off of the trails until 12:00pm. The trails will be in marginal shape for skate skiing, with roughly 2.5km of a mixture of snow, crusty snow, and ice.
Forecast:
Today: Clearing and windy. High 37F. Winds WSW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy. Low near 25F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph.
Tomorrow: Mainly sunny. High near 45F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Join us for the longest standing juniors race in Michigan! The Muffin Race celebrates the fun of youth skiing, new this year with a Junior Girls & Boys Freestyle Relay race. Skiers will be in teams of two, and complete 3 laps each skier (alternating laps) around a 1.6km course. Registration begins at 9am on Sunday, and we will shoot for a 10:30am start. This is a Michigan Cup Junior Race. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 teams in the girls, boys, and coed divisions, and awards will also be given for best costumes! There will also be a “Mini Muffin” Race following the Senior Muffin Race. ALL AGES of kids are welcome for the Mini Muffin Race, and entry is free. Each Mini Muffin racer receives a medal!
