XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 12/07
It’s beginning to look a lot like ski season! We received more snow yesterday, bringing the total natural snow accumulation in the woods to around 4 inches. Bob did a light snow comb on a 4-foot wide span on the Trappers Cabin, Manitou, Rolling Hills, Mackinaw Cut, Wild Turkey and Adventure trails yesterday. Conditions are marginal given the oak leaves and the pesky mole tunnels, but rock skis would make for a fun – or at least interesting – experience! We only need about another two inches of natural snow to groom the trails for good skiing – keep doing your snow dance.
In the meantime, after two nights and two days of successful snow-making, the flat part of the practice area is fully covered with great, dense snow. We will work on covering the hills of the practice area today and tonight to prepare for the Jordyn Ross Ski Clinic tomorrow, December 8th. By tomorrow, we expect great conditions on the practice area and hills, which will be open for the clinic and for demos! Starting Sunday, the practice area will be open for general skiing, lessons, and demos.
Weather forecast:
Today: Generally cloudy. High 24F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
