XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 12/28

After several good days of rock skiing, the rain hit last night and is forecast to continue sporadically throughout the day along with some wet snow. The wet conditions on the trails will be largely unsuitable for skiing today. The practice area maintains its solid base, though, and is the perfect place to "scratch the itch" of sliding on snow! Temps are going to cool down significantly tomorrow, enough so that we plan to fire up the snow gun and start making some white stuff once it gets below about 24 degrees tomorrow morning. Even better news is that it looks like good ol’ fashioned REAL snow is most definitely in the forecast for Monday and possibly Tuesday! We are optimistic that Mother Nature will send us into 2019 blanketed in snow… but keep doing your snow dance because she needs all the encouragement she can get!!

It’s perfect weather for shopping and lunch by the fire! Get outfitted for the oncoming cold weather and snow. Shop the best selection of cross country ski jackets, pants and accessories around – all on sale! Plus, the Stone Turtle Cafe is open and ready to serve you. Try Bob’s Favorite Tuna panini, served hot and melty on a delicious Swiss roll.
Join us for our weekly free ski lesson this Saturday, December 29th at 10:30am!

This beginner lesson teaches the basics of cross country skiing, including classic diagonal stride and/or skate skiing, hill climbing and descending, and turning. We even teach you how to get up after you fall down! Adults and children are welcome. If you need to rent skis for a nominal charge, please sign in at the rental desk no later than 10:15am. This lesson is free and lasts approximately 1 hour.

See you at HQ!

-Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Erin, Matt, Missy, Molly, Gillian, Crystal, Michelle, Josh, Annie B., Annie J. and the crew
