XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/07
We are getting pummeled with snow at the time of this report, with 2 inches already on the ground and more falling. According to the forecast, it will be snow for most of the day today, then turning to something wetter later before turning back to snow tomorrow. Groomer Mike will snowcomb the trails at daybreak today, and depending on the snow we will likely roll everything again later this morning in an effort to pack what we have before things get wet. There will be no new classic tracks set until the current weather system subsides, probably Wednesday morning. Overall conditions will be interesting today – trail will have full snow coverage and the skate lanes will be snow combed, and there will be a lot of precipitation and plenty of wind in the trees. Use caution if you’re out there today! Let it keep on snowing!!
The Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special is the Rocky Mountain Chipotle Panini! Your choice of turkey or hummus and double cheese, plus bell and banana peppers, black olives, spinach, tomoatoes, and chipotle mayo on hearty multigrain bread! Served with Great Lakes Kettle Cooked Potato Chips and a dill pickle spear. Mmmm!
Believe it or not, our suppliers are already starting to run out of certain sizes of boots and skis. Now is the time to get outfitted with cross country skis, boots, and clothing – there’s a lot of winter left to enjoy!
