XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/09

We received about 2 inches of fluffy, lake effect snow last night, and it is supposed to continue throughout the rest of the morning and afternoon. This is great news! However, after testing out the Ginzu on the Trapper’s Cabin trail this morning, we have determined that the base that we have underneath the fresh snow, while fairly solid, is still too wet to put any heavy grooming equipment on top of without creating slush (which will later turn to ice). So, we will not be grooming today in an effort to "play it safe" and provide the best possible conditions starting (hopefully) tomorrow morning. We are confident that once the snow underneath the fresh stuff firms up we will have great conditions!

Today’s Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special is the Pesto Perfection! Your choice of turkey or hummus and double cheese, plus basil pesto and veggies on herb fococcia bread! And it’s always a good day for an oatmeal raisin cookie!

There are still lots of great skis and clothing on sale, stop in to peruse the selection, or have a ski specialist help fit you for the perfect ski package.

See you at HQ!
