XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/14
The Trappers Cabin trail was in great condition yesterday evening – the bonus was the clear skies and beautiful sunset!
Greetings from Higgins Lake, in beautiful Northern Michigan!
It was a fabulous weekend of skiing at Cross Country Ski Headquarters! Conditions remain in good shape, with the best skiing to be found on the Rolling Hills, Wild Turkey, Mackinaw Cut, Trapper’s Cabin, and Manitou trails. Groomer Mike will snow comb the skate lanes on all trails at daybreak today, and classic tracks remain from late last week. There are some oak leaves down along some parts of the trail, and the busier sections along with some spots under the big trees are becoming more hard-packed. Overall, overall conditions are still good for classic and very good for skating. *Please note that we will be commencing snow spreading on the Trapper’s Cabin trail today, so watch out for tractors and large chunks of snow on the Trappers Cabin trail for the next couple of days!

Tomorrow: Overcast. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 32F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
