XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/08
Conditions this week were perfect for local skier Stephanie to take her brother-in-law from New Jersey XC skiing for the first time!
We’ve had some wild weather here in the north woods! Freezing ice pellets yesterday turned into snow last night, giving us 1-2 inches of fresh snow on the trail surface. Groomer Mike will work his magic on the trails throughout the day today, and we expect great conditions for the weekend. Conditions this morning will be a work in progress given the different kinds of precipitation we are working with, but all trails are open.
Weather forecast:
Today: Windy. Snow this morning will give way to snow showers this afternoon. High 17F. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulations less than one inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Tonight: Variably cloudy with snow showers. Low near 5F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy. High 19F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
Today’s Stone Turtle Day Lodge Cafe is the Cubano Panini! Honey glazed ham, oven roasted turkey, swiss cheese, dill pickle slices, mayo and Dijon mustard on a crusty Swiss roll. Served with Great Lakes Chips and a pickle!
Join us Saturday for a Free Ski Lesson at 10:30am, followed by Get Your Fill at the Grill! Grill Cook Katrina will fire grill your choice of Salmon Burgers, Lean Beef Burgers or Black Bean Veggie Burgers on Saturday from noon to 3pm. If you dare, ask that your entree be cooked “Fire on the Mountain Style” – Grilled with sizzling hot sauce and topped with Jalapenos, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and creamy Buffalo Blue Cheese dressing!
Plus, don’t miss Paella this Sunday, served at 1pm and 3pm! Cooked in a giant cast iron skillet over open flame, this Spanish-style masterpiece of chicken, shrimp and mussels will have your taste buds singing.
