XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/09
Groomers Mike and Butch worked magic yesterday in the sometimes white-out conditions!
Greetings from Higgins Lake, in beautiful Northern Michigan!
The grooming team worked tirelessly all day yesterday, and did an outstanding job producing some great ski conditions for the weekend! Tracks were set on all trails except Manitou yesterday, and Groomer Mike will be out this morning to Ginzu snow comb the whole system, and re-set tracks where needed. We did receive some fresh snow yesterday and last night, which combined with the more crystalized snow underneath, will yield great mid-season conditions for skating and classic today. There is still lots of snow in the woods and on the trail, and more to come!

Today: Generally cloudy. High 18F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies this evening will become overcast overnight. Low 1F. Winds light and variable.
Tomorrow: Cloudy with snow developing during the afternoon. High 21F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 70%. Snowfall around one inch.
Today’s Stone Turtle Day Lodge Cafe is Get Your Fill at the Grill! Grill Cook Katrina will fire grill your choice of Salmon Burgers, Lean Beef Burgers or Black Bean Veggie Burgers on Saturday from noon to 3pm. If you dare, ask that your entree be cooked “Fire on the Mountain Style” – Grilled with sizzling hot sauce and topped with Jalapenos, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and creamy Buffalo Blue Cheese dressing!
Plus, don’t miss Paella this Sunday, served at 1pm and 3pm! Cooked in a giant cast iron skillet over open flame, this Spanish-style masterpiece of chicken, shrimp and mussels will have your taste buds singing.
