XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/30

The pre-seeder worked wonders on the trail during a thaw earlier this season. We are hoping for similar results this morning!

We received about a half inch of snow last night, and it is supposed to keep snowing throughout the afternoon today. After a couple of sunny, warm days recently, the trails experienced quite a bit of melt and re-freezing, causing some large swaths of ice. However, Tractor Bob is coming to the rescue! He and the trusty pre-seeder have had great success in the past grinding up hard pack ice like we have now, and turning it into snow. He will begin grinding up the ice on the Trapper’s Cabin trail early this morning, and we hope to have that trail skiable by 10am. If we are successful in creating a safe, skiable surface on Trapper’s Cabin this morning, we will continue on to the other trails to grind up the ice. Please be sure to check inside for up-to-date conditions before you head out there. We are optimistic that the ground up ice mixed with this fresh snow will provide for some decent skiing!

Today’s lunch special is Erin’s Favorite Tuna Melt! Albacore tuna, chipotle mayo, black olives, red onion, banana peppers and spinach, grilled to perfection on hearty grain bread. Served with Great Lakes Chips and a pickle!

The Spring Sale is on! Shop 30 to 50% off most soft goods, including jackets and tops from Swix, Salomon, Bjorn Daehlie, Smartwool, North Face, Columbia, Patagonia and more. It’s a good day to demo some skin skis like the Atomic Pro C1 Skintecs, on crazy sale for just $119!

See you at HQ,
