Forbush Corner Cross Country Ski Report – 04/06

Our trails still have very good coverage, but it will be spring skiing. There are stretches of great skiing, punctuated with short stretches of gray ice or the occasional open spot. I skied the trails yesterday and found them quite skiable. Temperatures will be warming into the low 50’s by noon. Without any new snow this coming week, this will probably be the last weekend we will be open.

If you want come out and ski today, we will have badlands and flatlands groomed. There is plenty of good skiing out there on all of the trails as we still have most of our base left with around 4 inches of new snow on top of it. Skiing by donation today. ... See MoreSee Less

wish I could , but been recovering from an injury for the last month, so I missed out on all of that great spring skiing. But there is always next year ! 🙂

You may find the shop locked. We are out skiing and will eventually be back! Just go ski. Larry and Mike.

I wish I had read this before John headed off fishing! Dang!!! Sounds good. Enjoy. We didn’t get any snow up here.

Interesting little fun fact about yesterday's storm, the middle layer of snow that fell originated from the southern stream of moisture where it picked up dust from the high winds blowing in Texas and New Mexico. The dust then traveled with the storm all the way North where it was deposited in the new falling snow. The day started with a fire red sunrise, followed by mammatus clouds, then the snow and winds, freezing rain and finally rain. Now, it's sunny and 50, melting any chance of skiing this weekend. ... Interesting little fun fact about yesterdays storm, the middle layer of snow that fell originated from the southern stream of moisture where it picked up dust from the high winds blowing in Texas and New Mexico. The dust then traveled with the storm all the way North where it was deposited in the new falling snow. The day started with a fire red sunrise, followed by mammatus clouds, then the snow and winds, freezing rain and finally rain. Now, its sunny and 50, melting any chance of skiing this weekend.

Great photo illustrating the weather!

What wax recommendation do you have for Texas dust snow?

I will investigate the layers tomorrow in Minocqua... snowing/sleeting in upper WI as I type.

Don't give up on skiing, as the second half of the storm is likely to bring snowfall Sunday!

Colorado high Country bombed with a foot ++, 32F for high on too of record snow pack for the season!!

Pretty cool observation. There was a foot of snow in Wi followed by freezing rain. We bailed in Escanaba and came home today. Not a flake here

sweet!!!

Mammatus!

Whoa.
