XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 11/08

We received another 2-3 inches of snow throughout the day yesterday and through last night, on top of the 3 inches from Wednesday. Conditions yesterday were even better than expected for early season skiing – after the trails were rolled yesterday morning, the fresh snow that fell on top throughout the day added more coverage and made for a great gliding surface. The additional snow from last night will improve conditions even more. There are a couple damp spots on the Trappers Cabin and Manitou trails, which are quite sticky – make sure to apply some liquid or paste wax before heading out, and you may want to bring some with you. Overall, it feels wonderful to get out there and ski, and for November 8th it’s pretty darn great! Big thanks to the many hours of mowing, grading and leveling done by our trail crew this fall.

Ginzu Dana will roll the trails again this morning to continue to compact the snow and build the base. Trails are open for skiing, and classical rock skis are still recommended – just ask to borrow some if you need.

Now is the time to shop the Pre-Season Sale! Stop in and you will find tons of great deals on XC ski packages, clothing, and more, plus ski fitting experts to help you find the perfect gear. Plus, if you need a winter jacket, fleece jacket or mid-layer, sweater, flannel, gloves, hats, or any other general winter wardrobe piece, we have it!

It is snowy and beautiful here in Higgins Lake – grab your skis and come ski with us!

All the best,

-Mariah, Stu, Lynne, Bob, Erin Missy Gill, Ethan, Krista and the crew

We enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back! Beautiful trails and friendly skiers and staff. First ski of the season (and first pregnant ski) in the books! 😁

Beautiful day!

Wish I was there.

The trails are freshly snow-covered after the 2 inches from yesterday! By the way, does anyone know what these tracks are from? Looks like a large bird/small dinosaur was wandering the trails... @ Cross Country Ski Headquarters ... See MoreSee Less

Definitely small dinosaur. πŸ˜‚

I’m going with Dino the dinosaur!

Are the dinosaurs tasty if you catch them? I would think they taste like chicken. New dish at the Stone Turtle Day Lodge: small dinosaur soup!

we are coming up this weekend and look forward to trying out our new skis. You only got 2 inches yesterday? I am downstate, we got 8 in the city, I would love to share some with you.

I like the dinosaur theory. πŸ˜„

Emu on the loose? That is a very large turkey, long stretch.

Those look like Turkey tracks. They won't hurt you if you leave em alone. Watch out for train tracks though.

Baby rapture😳

Turkey of course!!
