XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/04
There is plenty of good skiing out there, like at the top of the first Manitou hill!
After a huge snow-doctoring effort yesterday by Bob, Josh and Josie on the Wild Turkey and Manitou trails, ski conditions have improved significantly! It got plenty cold enough last night, so this morning Groomer Mike will snow comb the Trappers Cabin, Mackinaw Cut, Wild Turkey, Manitou, and Rolling Hills trails. Rolling Hills and Trappers Cabin are in good condition, and Manitou, Mackinaw Cut, and Wild Turkey are pretty good with some marginal spots. Because of the moisture in the snow, some icy spots are sure to show up out there, especially in the classic tracks. We are hoping for enough snow tomorrow to be able to reset tracks. While the Cabin Boy had to spend yesterday snow-doctoring, he will be at Trappers Cabin today with a bonfire, hot cocoa, and snacks from 11 to 3pm, so make sure to ski out there and pay him a visit!
Join us today at 10:30 for the Free Saturday Ski Lesson. If you need ski rentals, please arrive by 10am. Also, it’s Get your Fill at the Grill for lunch at the Stone Turtle Cafe, onsite at XC Ski HQ today and tomorrow from 12pm to 3pm! Your choice of black bean, Beyond Meat, beef, or salmon burger, grilled to perfection on open flame and served with your choice of toppings, plus Great Lakes potato chips and a pickle. Try your burger "Fire on the Mountain Style", with jalepenos, Franks hot sauce, and creamy buffalo blue cheese dressing.
After skiing, shop the sale and demo skis! Work with a pro to get fitted in the right XC gear and clothing. There is a lot of winter left, so make sure you’re outfitted for it!
