XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/05

Participants in the sold-out Stretch & Slide Yoga Retreat yesterday enjoyed yoga in the morning, followed by ski rentals, a group lesson, lunch, and more skiing!

The trails improved greatly yesterday after Bob pulled the screen roller around the trails to break up the crust. Rarely used, but very valuable when needed, the screen roller was ideal for the conditions, and it worked beautifully to create a ski surface that was safe, skiable, and enjoyable! As one skier put it, "Don’t let Bob eat lunch today – he has to stay out there with that roller!"

Groomer Mike will screen roll again this morning, and trail conditions will consist of smooth, ground up crust-crystals until we start getting fresh snow – hopefully around 11am. The best trails are the Rolling Hills and Trappers Cabin, followed by Mackinaw Cut and Wild Turkey. Manitou is marginal, and Adventure and Tall Pines are closed today until we get more snow.

Join us today for Get your Fill at the Grill at the Stone Turtle Cafe, onsite at XC Ski HQ! Feast on your choice of black bean, Beyond Meat, beef, or salmon burger, grilled to perfection on open flame and served with your choice of toppings, plus Great Lakes potato chips and a pickle. Try your burger "Fire on the Mountain Style", with jalapenos, Frank’s hot sauce, and creamy buffalo blue cheese dressing.

After skiing, shop the sale and demo skis! Work with a pro to get fitted in the right XC gear and clothing. There is a lot of winter left, so make sure you’re outfitted for it!

All the best,

-Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Erin, Matt, Missy, Gill, Krista, Ethan, Andrew, Will, Katrina, Annie, Mike, Butch, Tony, Donnie and the crew
