Vasa Trail Cross Country Ski Report – 01/13

Good Day Ski Badgers,

That " Old Man Winter " he’s a sneaky little bugger 🙂. He gave us 2 – 3" of lake effect this morning. I was thinking maybe 1" overnight. But hey, its all snow and we will take it happily. We will be headed out tonight to compact and level the trail. This will help to push snow around the surface filling in the low areas and knocking down the high areas. The classic tracks will be wiped out during this process and will be reset on our next groom. Weather is forecast to be drizzly tomorrow with temps rising close to 40 degrees. So it looks like the next groom may be Wednesday morning. Stay tuned.

Peace,

Glen

Wax tips ahead of Noquemanon Ski Marathon!Wax recommendations are posted to our website as they are provided or as we find them on-line from your favorite wax brands. Visit www.noquemanon.com and click "Wax Recommendations" found on the lower right hand portion of the page.

We also recommend talking with some Noque veterans. A good wax job for the Noque is both art and science. Conditions in the 50K (air and snow temps AND snow conditions) can change from the upper part of the course to the lower part of the course as you drop over 900 feet of elevation on your way in to Marquette from Ishpeming.

Report: #17
Date: 01/24/20
Time: 5:10 am

Good Morning,

It is 32 degrees here at the trail head and there is about 1" of new snow. Rain is in the forecast after noon today with temps rising to around 36 degrees. I will be out this morning compacting the new snow on the skate lane portion of the trail. The classic tracks, which are still in good condition, will be left alone.
Peace,
Glen
