XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/09

Happy Skiers having lunch at the High Banks overlook on the Mason Tract Rendezvous yesterday!

Yesterday was another great day of XC skiing. The HQ trails were enjoyed by many, and the first annual Mason Tract Point-to-Point Rendezvous was a success! 32 skiers from as far away as Chicago and Ontario skied the 9 mile trail, which winds along the south branch of the AuSable River, and enjoyed a bonfire and lunch with Bob at High Banks halfway through, plus a celebratory beverage at the Stone Turtle Cafe upon completion. We are already looking forward to next year.

Today, Groomer Mike will snow comb the skate lanes early, which have fast, fun, and controllable corduroy. Classic tracks are good in some places and hard in others, but but overall are very skiable. All trails are open for skating and classic skiing. There are 4 to 6 inches of snow packed on the trails, and 7 to 11 inches in the woods. There is some decent snow in the forecast for today and tonight, so do your snow dance!
