XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/23

It was a beautiful, sunny day for skiing yesterday, with over 60 people participating in the Saturday Free Ski Lesson! Today’s conditions will be similar – the best skiing will be early before the snow softens up with the warm temps this afternoon. Groomer Mike snow combed and set tracks on all the trails after temps cooled yesterday evening. After setting up all night, the trails will be in great condition for classic and skating today, AND for the Junior Muffin Race starting at 10:30am! There are 6 to 8 inches of snow packed on the trails, and 9 to 15 inches in the woods.

Join us Today for the Junior Muffin Race!

The longest standing junior XC ski race in Michigan features a freestyle relay race with two skiers per relay team. Each skier will ski a total of 3 laps around a 2km course, handing off to their teammate between each lap, totaling 6 laps per team. Registration begins at 9:30am on Sunday, and we will shoot for a 10:30am start. Awards will also be given for top 3 teams in each division (Male, Female, and Co-Ed), plus best costumes! Ages 19 and under are welcome.

After the Muffin Team Sprint Relay Race, we will hold three Mini Muffin freestyle races: Ages 6 years old and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. All racers 12 and under will be awarded a medal. There is no entry fee for the Mini Muffin racers. All racers receive a post-race lunch, which is available to family and friends for $5.

Shop the Sale! Demo a new cross country ski package, and work with a clothing expert to update your XC ski outfit. Our complete inventory of skis and clothing is marked down from 10-40%, and with more snow in the forecast, it’s a great time to buy!

Good luck, Muffin Racers!

-Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Erin, Matt, Missy, Gill, Krista, Ethan, Andrew, Will, Katrina, Brenna, Mike, Butch, Tony, Donnie and the crew
