XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/18

Feeling cooped up? Get out and ski!

Bob and Lynne had a great ski yesterday on the Wild Turkey trail, even though they had to ski through some dirt sometimes. We consider these to be great spring conditions, understanding of course that when things warm up, some parts of the trail lose their snow.

The fresh snow we received this morning will help the trails and make it easier to slide over the bare spots! We spoke with others who have been skiing the trails the last couple days, too, and who have been having a lot of fun in the woods, skiing on rock skis, and breathing the fresh air. One skier had done the Manitou trail and said that despite bare spots, the majority of it is still great for spring skiing.

If you have skis that you don’t mind skiing across dirt with, come and have some fun on the HQ trails! If you would like to borrow some skis for this purpose, just let us know and we’ll loan you some.

The shop is open at least until March 31st. The Stone Turtle Cafe is closed, in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order. We hope to see you soon!
