Valley Spur Trail System Cross Country Ski Report – 01/11

No grooming today so went out on my classic no wax and did all of A, B, C, & D. Tracks are firm at times icey, both Heavens are doable with a good snow plow unless you really like speed.

FROM Valley Spur Trail System - Hiawatha National Forest --> Groomed in the 3 inches of fresh snow that fell after yesterdays groom. Rolled and then Ginzu groomed the entire system this morning before 11am. Cold dry snow is setting up fast so the skiing is very good today. Do be careful of the high winds coming later today if you venture out! ... #valleyspur ... See MoreSee Less

FROM Valley Spur Trail System - Hiawatha National Forest --> We received around 5 inches of lake effect snow last night and today with snow still falling at 1pm. Rolled and set track on all trails this morning starting with C and Y. Another 2 inches or so had fallen on that segment by noon. Skating would be on the soft side but the classic track was real nice. We will be doing a full groom in the morning... #valleyspur #snowphotos #crosscountryWe received around 5 inches of lake effect snow last night and today with snow still falling at 1pm. FROM Valley Spur Trail System - Hiawatha National Forest --> Hard to believe but today was the first time this year we groomed all trails with our big Ginzu groomer. Wow! We have gotten about 4 to 5 inches of measurable snow in the last 3 days and that has allowed us to get the system in near mid Winter condition. No noticeable thin spots but there are just a few spots on some trails that have some vegetation poking through. The skiing is very nice right now.... #valleyspur #snowphotos #crosscountryHard to believe but today was the first time this year we groomed all trails with our big Ginzu groomer. Wow! FROM Valley Spur Trail System - Hiawatha National Forest --> No grooming but lots of fun with 2 new inches of snow. Up Stairway, G Trail to Z Trail to B Trail on I Trail back to the lodge on B. Big Hills were slow so very doable. The base held up very well from yesterday. We did walk down the Hemlock Hill on Z (barely a trace of snow on it). So much fun to be on the Hills again. Tomorrow colder weather heading our way should make for a great Sunday Ski. ... #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
