XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/13

After a night of somewhat warm temps, yesterday’s grooming transformed the skating lanes back into perfect gliding surfaces.

The trails are still in excellent condition, with smooth, firm skating lanes that are not icy. Classic tracks have a bit of glaze, but for the most part are just fine. All trails are open. Skating lanes will be snow combed this morning and have full coverage. There are 8-13 inches of snow in the woods, and 3-7 inches packed on the trail.

The Stone Turtle Cafe is open today for take-out and outdoor dining at one of our six outdoor fire pits. If you’re extra hungry, try a bowl of chili "Stu’s way" with a bed of hot brown rice underneath!

We are looking forward to having our selection of recreational touring skis replenished towards the end of January. Stay tuned if you need skis. Meanwhile we have lots of skate skis and boots in stock, plenty of classic boots, as well as cross country ski clothing. Lots of items available for purchase in-store, online, or by phone. The demo center is open too, if you want to try some skis before you buy!

Have fun!

– Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Erin, Gill, Missy, Krista, Alex, Bradley, George, Will, Donnie, Josh, Josie, Annie H., Annie B., Lissa, Brian and the crew
