XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/03

Awesome late afternoon conditions on the Rolling Hills trail yesterday!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day, with mild temps and partly sunny skies. The trail surface is holding up remarkably well, thanks to cold overnight temps. Groomer Mike will snowcomb the open trails this morning, and with minimal ice and debris, and only one or two small thin/bare spots, they should be great for skating and classic skiing outside the tracks today. We have 6-14 inches inches of snow in the woods, and 2-6 inches packed on most of the trail surface. Due to ice and debris, we have closed the Manitou and Tall Pines trails for the time being.

COMING UP:

Saturday, March 6th: Join us for Ribs & Blues! A favorite XC Ski HQ tradition, Ribs & Blues features an afternoon of fantastic live music from Rhett’s Eastside Blues Duo, as well as German Dave’s famous BBQ ribs. It’s a perfect day to hit the trails, then kick back by the outdoor fire pit and enjoy great music and outstanding ribs, scalloped potatoes, and coleslaw for $12 ($6 for kids 8 and younger).

The Michigan Cup Relays are Sunday, March 7th! Advance registration is required. Read all about it and sign up your relay team here!

The Stone Turtle Cafe is open for outdoor dining, as well as 25% capacity indoor dining. Have a Turkey Trot panini outside on the sun deck and soak up the sunshine after you ski!

All the best,

– Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Erin, Gill, Missy, Krista, Alex, Bradley, George, Mike, Butch, Will, Joel, Donnie, Josh, Josie, Annie, Lissa, Brian and the crew
