Hanson Hills Snow Report – 03/04

Lodge and Trails open at 9am

Cross Country Trail: Trailhead is looking rough.. However once you get past the first 300 yards, the trail is holding up really well. Cooler temps made yesterday’s grooming hold up well. We are keeping equipment off of the trails today.

Downhill/Tubing operations: This weekend will be our last weekend of Downhill and Tubing operations for the 2020/21 Season.

Friday 3:30pm-9pm, Saturday 11am-8pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.

Book your tubing sessions and igloos at: www.hansonhills.org

FROM Hanson Hills >> ❄️ WEDNESDAY NORDIC UPDATE — JANUARY 28, 2026 ❄️
🎿 Nordic Trail Update:
🏡 Lodge and trails open at 9:00 AM
We received about 2 inches of new snow yesterday—a nice refresh for the trail system.
Groomer Dan is getting a well-earned day of rest today. Justin will be heading out on the groomer after this morning’s GRA Board meeting, which means grooming efforts will begin around 9:30 AM.
➡️ Red Trail will be the first pass once grooming starts.
🧣 Cold Weather Reminder:
An Extreme Cold Watch remains in effect. Please be sure to layer appropriately—think windproof outer layers, warm gloves or mittens, face protection. We strongly encourage taking frequent warm-up breaks and listening to your body while out on the trails.
Thanks for your patience this morning and for looking out for yourselves in the cold. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support—see you out there! #hansonhills #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan❄️ WEDNESDAY NORDIC UPDATE — JANUARY 28, 2026 ❄️

FROM Hanson Hills >> Weather-Related Closure Update
Saturday | January 24, 2026
Due to the ongoing Extreme Cold Warning in our area, all winter operations remain closed today, Saturday, January 24th, including Nordic, Downhill, and Tubing operations.
The extreme cold and dangerous windchill continue to create unsafe conditions for both our staff and guests. The safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority, and this decision is made with that in mind.
We are continuing to monitor conditions closely and will share an update regarding Sunday operations as soon as a decision is made.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this weather event. #hansonhills #SkiMichiganWeather-Related Closure Update

FROM Hanson Hills >> Weather-Related Closure Notice
Friday, January 23rd & Saturday, January 24th, 2026
With an Extreme Cold Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory in effect, we’ve made the difficult decision to close all winter operations on Friday and Saturday, including Nordic, downhill, tubing, and Snowsports School programs.
Many of our employees work outdoors for extended periods, and the combination of extreme cold, strong winds, and blowing snow creates unsafe conditions. For our Nordic operations specifically, high winds increase the risk of falling limbs and debris, and grooming during these conditions would be inefficient and short-lived, making it difficult to keep trails open and usable.
This decision was not made lightly. Our staff takes great pride in providing a safe, quality experience, but the safety of our employees and guests must come first.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding Sunday operations. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as soon as possible.
Guests with lessons or tubing sessions already booked will be contacted by a member of our team to discuss refund or rebooking options.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support—we truly appreciate it. #hansonhills #SkiMichiganWeather-Related Closure Notice
