XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/06

There is plenty of snow on the Trapper’s Cabin trail for your spring skiing pleasure!

Conditions remains good to great on the Rolling Hills, Wild Turkey, Mackinaw Cut, and Trappers Cabin trails, thanks to snow moving, good grooming, and cooler temps during the day and overnight. There are some thin/icy spots and debris on all the open trails, but each marginal spot is easy to ski through or over. Groomer Butch will snowcomb these trails this morning, and will also attempt to groom the Manitou trail as well. Conditions like these are most ideal for skating, as classic tracks are well-entrenched and quite icy; however, there is adequate of snow in the skate lanes for classic skiers to ski on and have a great time. We have 6-12 inches inches of snow in the woods, and 2-6 inches packed on most of the trail surface. Due to ice and debris, we have closed the Tall Pines trails for the time being.
