Vasa Trail Cross Country Ski Report – 03/07

From Groomer Glen…

Good Morning Badgers,

Jim went out yesterday late afternoon into the evening and renovated the skate lane on the 5k, 10k, Special K. He also went out to the oil pad turned around and went back past Timber Ridge on his way to do a 2nd pass on the 10k and 5k. It was 33 to 26 degrees during the time Jim was on the trail.

Right now it is 10 degrees. So the trail is pretty hard. Waiting to ski until temps rise will offer more control and a safer ski.

Skiing yesterday was paradise for me and many of the other skiers that I talked to along the way. The sun was intoxicating as we skied effortlessly along a great ribbon of white. Whether you access the trail from the trail head, Timber Ridge or the single track you will encounter some very icy conditions, but if you can endure you will be rewarded. Today may offer the same as temps warm into the high 30s by late afternoon.

This was our last groom unless, of course, winter returns.

Peace, Glen
