From the James, the new Vasa Corduroy Coordinator…
Trail Update and Hello!

Snowy Greetings Badgers!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with me yet, my name is James Hart, and having thoroughly enjoyed the past 5 seasons working as a Vasa Groomer, I’m proud, humbled (wait, aren’t those two mutually exclusive? Oh well), and honored to be stepping in as TART’s new Corduroy Coordinator for the Vasa Ski Trail. A huge thank you to TART for making this opportunity possible. I’m thrilled to continue to serve the xc ski community that calls the Vasa its home!

I’d like to acknowledge and thank Glen Rauth for the service that he has dedicated to the Vasa grooming program during his tenure as Lead Groomer, and for his mentorship to me as I have navigated life as a groomer, and prepared to assume this new role. The quality of the Vasa ski experience owes much to Glen’s hard work, and we look forward to his continued vigilance toward that end as a stalwart member of the grooming crew.

Now, let’s talk about snow, because I know we are all chomping at the bit.

Today’s weather so far has brought in an inch or two of snow on the trail, but still not quiiiiite enough for us to really work with. Varied forecasts are predicting a dramatic drop in temperature overnight, and possibly up to another 3"-6" of snowfall in the area from what has proven to be a very dynamic storm system. Assuming these predictions hold, we will send a crew out early tomorrow to roll the trail and hopefully start building a base.
