Vasa Trail Cross Country Ski Report – 02/12

Good Morning Ski Racers! Happy Vasa!!!

John, Chad, and I set off down the trail just as it started snowing last night, not knowing what we would find after yesterday’s warm temps and rain. We were treated to a firm trail, and 3”-5” of fresh powder throughout the night as we made our way around the Vasa race courses. After much trepidation over the forecast leading up to race weekend, we were breathing a collective sigh of relief as the snow stacked up in front of us on the trail, knowing that this year’s 46th annual North American Vasa races were going to be run in superlative snow conditions.
As we neared the end of the night’s mission, the snow was showing no signs of quitting, so we called in reinforcements. Mike and Glen have just set off down the trail to continue to incorporate the new fallen snow, with the goal of creating the firmest trail surface possible before today’s freestyle racers head out across the start line.

To all the stout hearted winter athletes joining us this weekend to race on the Vasa trail, we wish you endless glide! It will be plain to see what makes racing on the Vasa trail such a special experience.

Cheers, James…02/12/22…2:45 AM
