XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/20

Congratulations to Jessie Diggins for winning a silver medal in the 30km Olympic event late last night!

We received a total of 5 to 6 inches of snow since Friday night, which has transformed the trail system! The Trapper’s Cabin and Wild Turkey trails are in the best condition. The rest of the trails have glare ice underneath the fresh snow, which is challenging for the grooming team to work with, but they are making progress at getting these trails open and safe, and will continue to do so today. The scenery is absolutely stunning with the fresh snow, and if you want to venture out onto the trails that have not been groomed you are welcome to – just be cautioned that there is ice underneath all the fluffy white stuff! It will get warm today, so the best skiing will be in the morning, though it should be darn beautiful all day!
