Forbush Corner Cross Country Ski Report – 11/25

We had such high hopes to be open this Thanksgiving weekend, but Mother Nature had other plans. The warmer than predicted weather this week has impacted our ability to get the snow pushed around our manmade loop and it has melted most of our natural snow.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to be at least 50 with full sunshine and wind and Sunday is calling for rain and snow. Hopefully we can be open soon. We will update again next week once we see what Mother Nature is going to do.

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> Well, the storm left us with a weird mess of frozen snow. We spent over an hour trying to break it up and access the doors of the shop, yurt, ski school and vault toilets. We were unsuccessful with the vault toilets, but will try again once it warms up. Wednesday's plan is to get the piles of built up cement snow out of the entrances and get the parking lot plowed. We will also check the trails for downfall.
We plan to open up this Thursday through Monday. Looks like another great week of skiing is on tap. #forbush #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> Well it's a mess up north right now. We are busy digging out our own properties and waiting for the snowplows to clear the roads before venturing out to check the trails. We will assess the facilities and trails tomorrow and post plans for the week later on Tuesday. #forbush #SkiMichigan ... See MoreSee Less

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> Today is Founders Day at the Corner and Dave has made sure that we would have plenty of snow to groom and ski to celebrate. The raffle drawing for the Reid Goble fundraiser is also on tap at 10AM. We plan to groom the majority of our trails, tilling in the 4 to 6 inches received over the last few days, putting us back to 100% coverage. Trail passes for non-season pass holders are reduced to $10. A major winter storm is forecast starting late Saturday night and going into Monday for the northern lower and UP. Guess you could say today is the calm before the storm. Check out the weather forecast and stay informed. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
We expect to look like this again by late Sunday going into next week. #forbush #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichiganToday is Founders Day at the Corner and Dave has made sure that we would have plenty of snow to groom and ski to celebrate.
