Forbush Corner Cross Country Ski Report – 03/17

The trails groomed up beautifully today!

The next opportunity for grooming will be Thursday based on the current forecast models. We will make the call about grooming on Wednesday, so stay tuned. We will definitely be grooming the man made loops this Saturday and Sunday, with limited hours in the shop.

The base on the snowmaking loops still have a lot of base left on them and are grooming up well enough for A skis. Our natural trails still have very good coverage as well, but do have some open spots. The grooming on the natural trails will depend on any new snow that we receive. The shop will not be open if we groom any of the other days besides Saturday and Sunday, but people can ski and leave a trail fee in the black mailbox slot by the front door.

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> We are getting positive feedback from skiers skiing our new Townline Rd reroute ( part of the Pines Loop post A to B ) that we worked on over the summer. It runs through land that was devasted by a fire in 1871. Therefore, we are going to name it the 1871 Fire Trail. Check out the burned stumps here and there as you cruise through. #forbush #SkiMichigan ... See MoreSee Less

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> The Corner survived the rain and warmup, and it actually made our good trail base even better. An additional 4 inches of snow during the day yesterday didn’t hurt either. Albeit very windy and snowy weather, skiers were out and reporting that conditions were really good and not icy.
Full system groom today, including Pines Loop down into Hartwick Pines. Looks to be windy and a little snowy today, temperatures reaching the low 30’s. Open 9 to 5. Picture is Pancake from several days ago. #forbush #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichiganThe Corner survived the rain and warmup, and it actually made our good trail base even better. FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> Winter has returned overnight. Flash freeze, lake effect and windy conditions will contribute to taking longer today to determine a grooming plan, so consider delaying coming out right away. #forbush #SkiMichigan ... See MoreSee Less
