XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/07
Temps dipped to 31 last night, so things may have hardened up slightly, but chances are most spots will still be soft. We are closing the trails at noon once again to prevent rutting and to preserve the base as best we can. The trails will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, for that same reason. Rain Thursday night leading into Friday will more than likely mean no skiing Friday either, but we’ll wait to make the final call on that until early Friday. Luckily we see temps dropping fast Friday evening and then snow Friday night and all day Saturday, so with any luck, we’ll be back on the trails for the weekend!
Weather Forecast
Today: Cloudy/foggy. High 35F. Light winds.
Tonight: Foggy, low 30F. Winds 0-5mph.
Tomorrow: Cloudy. High 41F. Winds 5-10.
Join us for these Upcoming Events!
Saturday, Jan 10th – Sunday, Jan 11th – Bob’s Bean Bomb at the Stone Turtle Cafe
Back in the early 2000’s, founder Bob Frye created a culinary concoction that eventually became a legend in the XC ski industry: Bob’s Bean Bomb. He went so far as to sell it to ski shops and specialty markets throughout the country. He has since retired the project, but on occasion, he makes a big batch of it for friends and family… and it never lasts longer than a few minutes. This cheesy, spicy, addictive bean dip is served hot, with sturdy chips. Cold drinks recommended. Available until it sells out!
Saturday, Jan 10th: “Pure Michigan” Winter Trails Day with the Great Lakes Winter Trails Council
Entering its 29th year, Winter Trails Day invites adults and children for a free Facilities Pass and cross country ski lesson, plus a complimentary hot cocoa and hot dog cookout on the ski trails. Bring your friends and family for a fantastic day on the snow, and discover how fun winter in Northern Michigan can be!
