Valley Spur Trail System Cross Country Ski Report – 01/15
1/15, John Cromell got out early to tackle the aftermath of yesterday’s weather. All trails are groomed. Some of the skate lanes will be soft due to all the new snow and drifting from yesterday’s high winds. Another day of getting trees off of the trails and another day of picking up sticks on the trails. Please help out to remove sticks. Temps are ideal for skiing.
The lodge is open today.

1/15 and John Carlson groomed the snow bike trail located at our upper parking lot.
Bikers, snowshoers. Skiers and dogs can enjoy this 4 mile loop.
This the only trail that allows dogs.

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> 1/14, no grooming today. 40 mile an hour wind, Lake Affect Snow and near white out conditions. John plans to get out and groom when the wind settles down. This will probably happen late tonight or very early tomorrow. This system should provide for very good skiing Thursday on. I will keep you updated. Tomorrow weather forecast calls for high winds and heavy snow. Not conducive for grooming. Temperatures are dropping for the weekend. The weekend we should be in good shape for skiing. John reports it looks pretty good but there is some equipment tracks on the skate lanes. We all need to help pick up sticks on the ski trails. Please don't ski by them. These sticks can destroy our grooming equipment. The lodge will be open today. #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan
FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> 1/9 we got a winter mix that is slush. The temperature needs to drop before grooming can start. Maybe tomorrow we will be able to groom at least that's what the forecast is looking like. The lodge won't be open today. #valleyspur #SkiMichigan
Saturday the 10th of January and we opened with a new groom and snow on the way.
