Valley Spur Trail System Cross Country Ski Report – 02/23

Monday the 23rd of February and the snow didn’t start falling until now so there will be no new grooming until very early tomorrow morning. The snow coming down is very fluffy and will create good glide. We will have the lodge open.

<>

2/23 and bike trails were groomed but will be soft. These trails can be used by snow bikes, snowshoers, skiers and it’s the only trail we allow dogs on.

Ski Michigan

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Sunday the 22nd of February and John Cromell has another challenging groom. The ice on the trees collected more snow and they are very low hanging branches. 6 to 10 inches of new snow and the poor old Jeep is having tough time and is over heating. John plans to groom all trails today. Check out his picture of what he is facing. Update check out the after pics. Beautiful groom. #valleyspur #crosscountry #snowphotos #SkiMichigan ... Ski Michigan

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Saturday the 21st and John Cromell is having a very challenging groom but plans to groom all trails. Very heavy snow that doesn't want to pack. I recommend bringing your fleet of skis and see which ones work the best. We really need your help flicking sticks on the trails. The trees have lots of ice and snow on them. Please don't ski by sticks. Please Mother Nature take your chill pill and not this up and down weather. MAGNUS please come home. The lodge will be open. #valleyspur #SkiMichigan ... See MoreSee Less

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Wednesday the 18th and the storm hit us. It's a combination of rain and snow. John is waiting it out to groom. Hoping for colder weather for tomorrow so he can groom. Ski Michigan

FROM Friends of Valley Spur >> Munising High School Outdoor Ed teacher @Rachel Hoult brought her class out to Valley Spur for a day of adventure.
Their first stop was at South Bay Outfitters where they all got outfitted for skis, boots, and poles.
We started the morning with a 2+ mile snowshoe on the snowman loop. After lunch the group skied trail B. Thank you John Cromell for the fresh groom. They all did an awesome job tackling some pretty fast, and somewhat icy conditions.
The vitamin D was definitely a welcome addition to the day.
