XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/26

Hartwick Pines is only 20 minutes north of XC Ski HQ, and is worthy of a trip to ski amongst these beautiful trees!

We received 1 to 2 inches of snow last night, and as of 6:45am it continues to snow. This is just what we need to cover up some of the little pine needles on the Manitou and Tall Pines trails. Because it is relatively warm and the snow is pretty wet, we will not be grooming first thing this morning. If it cools off later in the day, Groomer Henry will Ginzu snow comb all trails and reset tracks where needed. If it stays around 32F all day, we will likely hold off on grooming until tomorrow in order to avoid making slush. We have an 8 to 10 inch base and there is 13 to 18 inches of snow in the woods. All 8 trails are in great shape for classic and skating!

Forecast:

Today: Snow showers. High 33F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

Tonight: Cloudy skies. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Low 19F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Cloudy. High 27F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph.

Todays lunch special is the Wild Turkey Panini: sliced oven roasted turkey, honey mustard, sliced apple, spinach, and swiss cheese on Stone House Cherry Walnut bread, grilled to delicious perfection and served with chips and a pickle. We will also be serving Veggie Chili and Classic Chili along with oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies, Bosco sticks, and other tasty paninis.

Time to ski in this nice warm winter weather!
