XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/17

Crew members Carl and Ryan are all smiles after skiing yesterday. Ryan is the creator of the now-famous Stone Turtle Cafe specialty: the Ryan Wrap.

As of 6:45 this morning we have received a heavy dusting of new snow overnight. Groomer Bob re-set tracks yesterday afternoon on Adventure and Blizzard Trails. All classic tracks on our 8 trails are in good to great condition. Groomer Stu will snow-comb all skate lanes early this morning, leaving all trails firm, smooth and fast for skating. We have a 9 to 13 inch base and 12 to 16 inches of snow in the woods.

Forecast:

Today: Snow showers this morning. Peeks of sunshine later. High near 20F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 40%.

Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 7F. Winds light and variable.

Thursday: Mostly sunny skies during the morning hours will become overcast in the afternoon. High 31F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.

Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special: Classic Chili or Veggie Chili served in a big, warm bread bowl with your choice of toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, and sour cream.

It’s another fine day to be enjoying the snow in northern Michigan!

-Lynne, Bob, Mariah, Stu, Fran, Brian, Erin, Matt V., Ryan, Lexi, Gage, Matt B., Grant, Shania, Kevin, Henry, Dana and the crew
