XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/29

Taken yesterday at 4:30 pm on the freshly groomed Blizzard trail.

What a great day it turned out to be yesterday! The snow groomed up well, the sun was out and the 24th Annual Junior Muffin Pursuit Race was one of the best ever! As of 7am this morning the temperature was 27 degrees and it looks like a little snow is on the way.

Last evening, when the snow was easy to groom, groomer Bob snowcombed the skating lanes and set deep tracks on the Blizzard, Rolling Hills, mackinaw Cut, Wild Turkey and Trapper’s cabin trails. These trails are in very good to excellent condition. The Tall Pines, Manitou and Adventure trails will be Groomed by Groomer Henry early this morning.

The Tall Pines trail is in fair condition because of all the pine needles mixed in with the snow. The Adventure and Manitou are in very good condition. We have a 5 to 9 inch base with 6 to 14 inches of snow in the woods.

Forecast:

Today: Occasional snow showers. Quite windy. Morning high of 33F with temps falling to near 20. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulations less than one inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Tuesday: Cloudy with snow showers mainly during the morning. High around 25F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

Wednesday: Cloudy. High 24F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Today’s Lunch Special is: Turkey Pesto Panini: Sliced oven-roasted turkey, basil pesto, spinach, tomato and provolone, on Stone House Bread, grilled and golden and served with Great Lakes chips and a pickle! An all-time favorite! Of course Famous Chile and other great Paninis will also be served.

Winter Wonderland Sale continues!

Skiing is believing!
