XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 12/10

Greetings from Higgins Lake! We were able to pack all the trails yesterday, which resulted in fine rock-skiing conditions and was enjoyed by quite a few skiers, but was not quite enough snow to snow comb or set tracks on the trails. However, we were able to snow-comb the Blizzard Park where we have at least a 6″ packed base of man-made and natural snow. The Blizzard Park will be open for demos and the Amy Powell Ski Clinic today.

Last night we received 1/2″ of more lake-effect snow, and so we will continue to have fine rock-skiing conditions on all the trails today. If you need to borrow some rock skis, just let us know. All we need is a little more snow to start grooming the trails, and that snow looks like it will be arriving soon, so stay tuned!

Forecast:

Today: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around this morning. High 22F. Chance of snow 40%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies this evening will give way to occasional snow showers overnight. Low around 15F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 40%.

Tomorrow: Snow likely. High 27F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.
Join us today for the Amy Powell Ski clinic, starting at 10:00am with Beginner/Intermediate Classic! Other levels to follow in both skate and classic. Call 800-832-2663 for more info and to sign up. There is also a FREE Fast Wax clinic at 4:00pm in the Day Lodge. The Let it Snow Sale continues on winter clothing and cross country skis and ski packages!

The Stone Turtle Day Lodge will be up and running this weekend! We will have famous classic chili, warm rolls, and a selection of hand made panini sandwiches, served with kettle cooked potato chips and a pickle. Of course there will also be giant chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies.

It’s a great weekend to get on the snow!
