Even before the snow yesterday, the Manitou trail was in wonderful shape!

The skiing yesterday was downright magnificent, with a light dusting of snow overtop of the smooth, packed skating lanes and classic tracks. We have received another 3 to 5 inches of snow since yesterday morning, and as of 6:30am it is still snowing. Groomers George and Brian will be packing and snow combing and setting fresh classic tracks on all the trails starting early this morning. We have a 5 to 7 inch packed base, and 11 to 14 inches of snow in the woods.
These pre-Christmas conditions are so good that Santa is coming to Higgins Lake a little early this year! Ski out to Trapper’s Cabin to find Trapper Santa today, who will be tending the bonfire and serving hot cocoa in all of his rustic glory. You can even try your hand at roasting chestnuts over the open fire!

Forecast:

Today: Snow this morning will transition to snow showers this afternoon. High 23F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 90%. About one inch of snow expected.

Tonight: Occasional snow showers. Low near 10F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 70%. About one inch of snow expected.

Sunday: Scattered snow showers during the morning. Then partly to mostly cloudy for the afternoon. High 14F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
